Fun in the mountains

Last weekend we went up to the mountains(Clayton, GA) after church and had such a fun time. It only takes an hour and a half to get there but we feel like we've been away. Dusty's parents have a little cabin there that is almost finished, minus the plumbing. After hiking around the cabin, we went to the Dillard House in Dillard, GA. It is a little restaurant in a beautiful setting. And they serve a great Southern family-style meal! They also have a little farm out back where you can go look at the animals. That was a hit for the kids. Ella is going to be our animal lover... she goes nuts over every animal she sees! Anson really liked the horses. I think a trip back to go horseback riding is in our near future!

And this weekend, Jared, Brittany and Charlotte came to visit! We had a fun time visiting with them. We had breakfast and lunch with them on Valentines Day and then they headed to the cabin. They were pretty brave and stayed there overnight with no plumbing! But they had a fun time and they visited the Dillard House too. They came back to our house on Sunday and we went to the park and out to dinner. We stayed up way too late but we had a fun time listening to entertaining stories from our friend Cyrl! :o)

And for a sweet Anson story... he got so sad when Jared and Brittany were leaving that he teared up and cried! It almost made me cry! It is only the second time I have seen him sad like that! (The first time was when I read him the Velveteen Rabbit). But he got to talk to Auntie Brittany tonight and he said he didn't feel as sad. :o)

Vote For Gavin Rollins!

Next stop... the oval office!

Dusty's brother Gavin is running for Keystone Heights (FL) City Council, Seat 1. We are so excited for him and impressed at the hard work he's putting into his campaign. If you know anyone inside the Keystone Heights city limits, put in a good word for Gavin! He has a great website... check it out! http://www.gavinrollins.com/.

And then there's the not-so-helpful!

A couple days ago Ella "disappeared" for a few minutes... Anson and I found her in his room at his little table. She had taken the neat stack of his coloring/activity books and thrown them on the floor one by one! We saw her do the last two! Of course I probably reinforced the behavior by laughing and taking her picture but I just had to. She did help pick them up, but twice since then she's done the same thing. I finally got smart and put the books in a magazine file and she stopped. It's not so much fun if you can't just swipe them onto the floor, I guess! We have to watch ourselves that we don't withhold discipline from her just becasue she does these things with a smile and looks so adorable. That's a hard one! :o)
